Azimuth Pilgrim
by Darin Münch
This dark, tense, synth-tinged orchestral epic is actually a minor-key draft of an upcoming client project [not for sale] that has since been brightened up with sunnier elements. A "director's cut" of sorts, this gloomier version is replete with influences ranging from Super Metroid's dramatic title theme to John Paul Jones's moody piano meanderings in Led Zeppelin's classic "No Quarter." Onward and upward!
INSTRUMENTATION: Features orchestral cello, ambient synthesizer samples, violin solo section, slapped and pizzicato upright bass, marching drums, various percussion, ethnic lute, mallet, triangle, and a nice airy reverb for good measure. This would make great backing music for a sacred journey on a high mountaintop or an uncharted planet in outer space.
